A ribbon-cutting ceremony on campus marks the official opening of the new building, which provides 85,000 square feet of space across four stories.<\/p>\n

The ceremonial opening followed nearly a month of operation in which students have settled into the new building, from the first-floor computer lab to the fourth-floor study hall with panoramic views of North County.<\/p>\n \u201cThe LRC is a flagship academic library, strategically located to serve students, faculty, staff and the community for generations to come. It is not only a state-of-the-art facility, but the true heart of our campus,\u201d said Palomar College Superintendent\/President Dr. Joi Lin Blake.<\/p>\n During Friday\u2019s event, college officials spoke about the significance of the LRC to the campus community, and afterward guests and dignitaries toured the new building.<\/p>\n A visually stunning building packed with state-of-the-art technology, reference desks, book stacks and cozy study nooks on every floor, the LRC was funded by Prop. M, the $694 million ballot measure approved by voters in 2006.<\/p>\n Friday\u2019s ceremony was attended by more than 200 people, on a cool, sunny day on the plaza in front of the LRC entrance. The building remained open to students during the event.<\/p>\n \u201cEvery time I see the way students are using the space and enjoying the space, it reminds me why we\u2019re here,\u201d said President Blake. \u201cIt reminds me we need to continue investing in our students.
