SAN MARCOS \u2013 For the fourth year in a row, the Palomar College Multicultural Studies department is presenting Tarde de Familia<\/i>, an event featuring successful members of the Latino community who are invited to share stories of their educational and career paths with students and families.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s event will take place Friday, September 26, from 6 \u2013 8 p.m. in the Student Union at the San Marcos campus. Featured speakers are Pedro Nanez, Field Training Officer for the Escondido Police Department; Rosibel Mancillas L\u00f3pez, Attorney at Law and Equal Justice Works Fellow at the Legal Aid Society of San Diego; and Victor Manuel Torres, Attorney at Law, Victor Manuel Torres law firm.<\/p>\n
In addition to the presentations, which will be delivered in Spanish, the event will feature networking opportunities and dinner. Representatives from the various academic, student services and support programs at Palomar College will be on hand to share information and talk with guests.<\/p>\n
Dr. Rodolfo Jacobo, chair of Palomar\u2019s Multicultural Studies department is hosting the event. Jacobo said, \u201cWe are proud to present this important event that provides hope, inspiration and concrete information to our students. All of our speakers are Latino community professionals who have overcome adversity to achieve their educational and career goals – they serve as excellent examples of what is possible. Also, students and their families can learn about the many services and programs Palomar College has to offer.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jacobo said the public is welcome to attend this event. There is no charge for admission and parking is available in Lots 1 and 2, accessed from the College\u2019s front entrance at 1140 West Mission Road.<\/p>\n
