The six and eight-week summer sessions feature a cross-section of basic classes in math, English and history, as well as a variety of other subject areas including business, world languages, chemistry, American Sign Language, kinesiology, psychology and performing arts.<\/p>\n<p>Superintendent\/President Robert P. Deegan reported that a week before classes started enrollment figures were up nearly 18% for the summer session. \u201cWe\u2019ve added a number of classes to accommodate\u00a0 increased numbers of students,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>While classes are filling up quickly, there are still a number of seats available. The final deadline for adding classes for both six- and eight-week sessions is Monday, June 23 (requires permission code from instructor if the class is closed or for all classes after June 19). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/\">View the most up-to-date listing of open classes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The brand new Humanities Building, centrally located on the San Marcos campus, is open for summer classes. An official Grand Opening is scheduled for the fall 2014 semester. The 90,000-square-foot, three-story building houses the following disciplines: English\/Humanities, English as a Second Language, Reading, Speech\/Forensics\/American Sign Language, World Languages and Journalism. Classes in some of these areas will begin in their new Humanities building location in the fall.<\/p>\n<p>California community college fees remain an affordable higher education option at $46 per unit. Palomar College offers more than 300 associate degree and certificate programs, and has classes offered in a variety of formats, including traditional, online, video and flexible schedule.
