Who/What:
Palomar College Veterans Day Ceremony
This year’s theme is “Staying Positive”

When:
Thursday, November 9

Palomar College
San Marcos Campus
1140 West Mission Road, San Marcos 92069
Near the Palomar College Veterans Memorial (in front of the flag pole at the Student Union)

Free parking will be available in Lots 1 and 2 for this event. If free spaces are filled, metered parking
is also available in these lots.

Why:
In observance of Veterans Day, the College will come together at the campus Veterans Memorial (in front of the flag pole) for a ceremony honoring all those who have served and are serving their country.

Event Details:
Marine Corps veteran and Palomar College alumnus Karlins Borrero will be featured speaker at the event. Borrero currently attends Cal State San Marcos and expects to graduate in spring. The Student Veteran of the Year Award will be presented by Adrianne Lee, Director, Financial Aid, Veterans and Scholarhip Services.

Music will be provided by the Palomar College Performing Arts department and current student and USMC Veteran Lejearl Young will sing the National Anthem. The lawn area will feature a display of mini American flags honoring those have served. Lunch will be provided after the ceremony.

This fall semester, Palomar College is serving more than 2,000 veterans, current active duty or current military dependents.  Palomar College has a rich history of serving veteran students and their families – the College’s first class in 1946 was largely comprised of students just returning from World War II.  The College’s Veterans Services Office (VSO) is one of the longest-serving Veterans services offices at a community college in the state.

Students, veterans, College officials and community dignitaries will congregate. College officials will commemorate the occasion.
