Palomar College will break ground on a new sports complex to include a 3,600+ seat football stadium, a 207-seat softball stadium, and various improvements to how visitors and fans will experience two of the college’s top athletics programs on campus.
Located adjacent to West Mission Road between the main Palomar College entrance and Comet Circle, the project is expected to last one year, with completion tentatively scheduled for October 2023.
When the new facilities open, Palomar’s football team will be able to host home football games on campus for the first time after decades of playing home games at local high school fields. That program is the largest within the Comets Athletics organization, encompassing some 200 student athletes every year, as well as 11 coaches, plus trainers and support staff.
Dozens of student athletes in Palomar’s softball program—which has won eight consecutive Pacific Coast Athletic Conference titles—will also enjoy extensively upgraded facilities, including more seating and an improved practice area.
Photo and video opportunities at the event include Palomar College Administrators and Trustees speaking about the project and participating in an official ceremonial groundbreaking.
Parking:
Free parking will be available in Lots 1 and 2 off of Mission Road.
