Some Performances and Activities Will Go On as Scheduled

San Marcos, CA (December 8, 2017) –  Palomar College is CLOSED for all classes and most activities are cancelled* today Dec. 8 through Sun., Dec. 10 due to the Lilac Fire.

The San Marcos campus is open as a Red Cross Evacuation Center until further notice.  Superintendent/President Dr. Joi Lin Blake said, “The safety and security of our campus community and all those affected by the fires is our first priority. We are working with the Red Cross to make sure all evacuees and their pets at our San Marcos campus are as comfortable as possible in these circumstances.”

In addition to the Red Cross, the Humane Society and other local organizations are present at the site. Dogs are being cared for in the tennis court area and cats are in the “yoga room.” To name just a few, local businesses including Home Depot, Rossi’s Pizza and Smart and Final have donated food and supplies. “We are so grateful for the outpouring of help and support shown by individuals from the college and the surrounding community,” Dr. Blake said.
