The Neighborhood Reinvestment Program allocation from San Diego County Supervisor Bill Horn will help fund Palomar Promise student textbooks, a new campus police vehicle, a cargo van, and a utility cart for the new Anita & Stan Maag Food & Nutrition Center.

SAN MARCOS — The Palomar College Foundation received a $100,000 grant from the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, furthering the Foundation’s efforts to bring the Palomar Promise to more students, address food insecurity, and support operations at education centers across North County.

“This generous grant from the county and Supervisor Horn will help us support our growing student communities across North County, as well as our new food pantry on the San Marcos campus,” said Dr. Joi Lin Blake, Superintendent/President of Palomar College. “We deeply appreciate the ongoing support of our county government in serving the students of our district.”

As approved by the Board of Supervisors, and effective as of June 19, the grant will help fund:

  • Textbooks for incoming high school graduates via the Palomar Promise
  • A new campus police vehicle at the Fallbrook education center
  • A cargo van to support the unique on-base Camp Pendleton Education Center
  • A utility cart to serve the Anita & Stan Maag Food & Nutrition Center opening soon at the San Marcos campus

“This funding is key to making educational opportunities accessible for every local student,” said Palomar College Foundation executive director Stacy Rungaitis. “Supervisor Horn’s allocation of support will enable hundreds of students to gain access to resources they need, while also enhancing safety and security.”

Palomar College Foundation is the focus of community support for Palomar’s students and faculty. Over the years, thousands of caring citizens have given time and money to the Foundation, thus ensuring that quality education is available for everyone in our community.
