Details:

Palomar College officially celebrates the groundbreaking of the Anita and Stan Maag Food and Nutrition Center, scheduled to open in late spring/early summer 2018. Funded by a $400,000 donation, the Center will replace the college’s faculty and staff lounge in the Student Union area of the San Marcos campus.

For more than 34 years, the college has maintained a food pantry to meet the food security needs of thousands of students, but the operation has outgrown its current home. In fact, by noon on the current Thursday distribution schedule, there is a line of students out the door waiting to receive assistance.

The college sources its pantry supplies from the North County Food Bank on Rancheros Drive in San Marcos. When the new center finally opens its doors, workers will have a refrigerator for keeping produce and dairy, as well as a staging room to accept pallets of food.

Event speakers include Palomar College President, Dr. Joi Lin Blake; Palomar Community College District Governing Board Vice President Dr. John Halcón; Palomar College Vice President, Student Services Adrian Gonzales; and Palomar College Director of Student Affairs Sherry Titus.

Event Parking:

Parking for the Groundbreaking Ceremony will be available without a permit in Lots 1 & 2 during the hours of the event.
