Palomar College announced the hiring of Dr. Lisa Norman as the new Assistant Superintendent/Vice President, Human Resource Services. The Governing Board voted unanimously at their Oct. 10 meeting to appoint Dr. Norman, and she began in her new position on Oct. 16.
Superintendent/President Dr. Joi Lin Blake said, “Having someone with Lisa’s credentials combined with her interpersonal skills and kind manner is truly an asset to this institution.”
Dr. Norman has a breadth of experience as a human resources administrator in education. Most recently she served as the Vice President of Human Resources at Pasadena City College, and prior to that was the Vice Chancellor of Human Resources at San Bernardino Community College District. She has an extensive history of expertise in all aspects of human resource services and operations, including equal employment opportunity, negotiations, employee relations, and policy and procedure development.
Prior to Dr. Norman’s career in the California Community Colleges system, she served in educational and administrator roles at several a County Office and K-12 districts in southern California. Her career included service as an executive administrator in human resources, a principal, and a teacher.
Dr. Norman holds a J.D. from Taft Law School, a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Phoenix, a master’s in educational administration and a master’s degree in Child Development from California State University, Los Angeles, and a bachelor’s degree in child development from California State University, Los Angeles.
