Details:

Palomar College presents its annual commencement exercises on Friday, May 27, at 5 p.m. on the football practice field at the college’s main campus in San Marcos. The ceremony will be held in person after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Star Rivera-Lacey, Superintendent/President of the Palomar Community College District, will preside over the ceremony.

This year’s keynote speaker will be the 2020-21 Distinguished Faculty Member, Richard Albistegui-Dubois, Ph.D, who teaches human physiology and is Chair of the Biology Department at Palomar. The college’s Alumna of the Year, Julie Moss, will also speak to the 2022 graduating class. Moss is an Ironman and USA Triathlon Hall of Fame inductee who attended Palomar in the late 1970s and rose to fame when she crawled across the finish line at the 1982 Ironman World Championship. Her memoir, Crawl of Fame, was published in 2018.

Approximately 400 students are expected to participate in the ceremony, with a total number of 4,429 degrees and certificates approved in the 2021-22 academic year.

Families and friends are welcome to attend the ceremony. It is recommended that all visitors complete the college health screening questionnaire, which can be found with additional information on the Visitor Access website.
