{"id":605,"date":"2015-11-08T23:17:36","date_gmt":"2015-11-08T23:17:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/library\/?page_id=605"},"modified":"2026-09-03T14:42:05","modified_gmt":"2026-09-03T21:42:05","slug":"general-use-policies-and-procedures","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/library\/general-use-policies-and-procedures\/","title":{"rendered":"General Library Use Policies and Procedures"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The following behaviors and activities are not allowed<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Any disruptive behavior which Library staff reasonably determines interferes with the performance of their duties or the intended use of the library by students and others.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Harassment, threats, and\/or intimidation, including abusive language, encouraging violence, or other noise or conduct intended to disturb others and reasonably likely to do so.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food or uncovered beverages consumed in areas other than the first floor lobby.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Smoking, vaping, or alcohol.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unlawfully possessed weapons of any kind.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Theft and damage to property.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Soliciting for commercial purposes and panhandling.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unattended children ages 15 and under who are not Palomar College students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Odors or hygiene that constitute a nuisance to other persons.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Entering the Library without wearing appropriate clothing, including shoes and shirts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sleeping or excessive use of personal space that interferes with access to those spaces by others.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leaving personal belongings unattended or placing them in a manner that interferes with safe use of the library.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Playing audio equipment so others can hear it; talking or singing loudly inside the library; or making other similar noises disruptive to other library users.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Animals other than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/drc\/policies-and-procedures\/service-animals\/\">service animals<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Noncompliance with public health orders or measures implemented by the library to ensure compliance with public health orders.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Illegal activity as defined by federal, state, and local laws.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All library users must behave in accordance with the Palomar College <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/studentlifeandleadership\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/68\/2017\/12\/Standards-of-Student-Conduct-AP5500.pdf\">rules and regulations of student behavior and rules of conduct<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently enrolled students, regardless of age, have access to the Palomar College Library and must conform with all these General Use Policies and Procedures.&nbsp; Minors under the age of 15, who are not currently enrolled Palomar College students, must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following behaviors and activities are not allowed All library users must behave in accordance with the Palomar College rules and regulations of student behavior and rules of conduct.
