Interlibrary Loan (ILL). ILL is a service that allows libraries to borrow materials (books, videos and articles ) they don’t own from other libraries.
Palomar College Library has typically offered ILL to student, staff and faculty if none of our locations own the books or articles they need. Due to the special handling requirement and short loan periods for videos we have not offered ILL for borrowing media items. With the closing of our building locations due to the COVID-19 emergency in March 2020 the Library limited ILL services to only article requests.
As of Fall 2021 ILL services are again available for all Palomar students, staff and faculty.
We are also once more able to process requests for both books and articles.
*Before submitting requests to borrow materials through ILL, please remember to check the following tools:
-for magazine/journal article requests
Check our A to Z list of journals in case you can find a copy of the article in one of the periodicals (journals, magazines, newspapers, etc.) available through a Palomar College Library electronic resource. Searching the A to Z list helps you access available articles promptly! To obtain articles via ILL use this Request Magazine/Journal Articles form.
*Remember that Palomar users (students, staff and faculty) can request to borrow materials available from 1 of the 4 libraries. Users will have to arrange to pick up materials from our San Marcos location. Submit requests to borrow items from a Palomar library by calling our San Marcos library (760-744-1150, ext. 2612) or by using our Materials Request form. The page link below explains the process and allows you to complete the form.
