The W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for African American Research at Harvard University has shared approximately 7,000 more images with ARTstor from their highly regarded archive, Image of the Black in Western Art. Image of the Black in Western Art is a rich, deep collection, containing works dating as far back as 5,000 years. The collection captures many of the ways in which African Americans or those of African descent have been depicted in Western art throughout time The collection may be used by Palomar College faculty and students of the arts, but can also be used by those within the fields of the humanities, history, and other social science disciplines.
