\"midway-philippine-movie-poster\"We were honored to be invited by\u00a0Lionsgate\u00a0to interview actor\u00a0Luke Kleintank, one of the stars of the film \u2018Midway<\/em>\u2018 at the\u00a0USS Midway Museum\u00a0in San Diego, CA. Best known for his roles as Finn Abernathy in\u00a0Bones<\/em>\u00a0and Joe Blake in\u00a0The Man in the High Castle,\u00a0<\/em>Luke portrayed\u00a0Clarence Dickinson, an honorary WW2 veteran who is centered around the events that unfolded during the Battle of Midway in the WW2 era.<\/p>\n

The actor stated multiple reasons as to why he wanted to be a part of this film: his pure fascination with the Battle of Midway, and the opportunities to work with director\u00a0Roland Emmerich\u00a0and the all-star ensemble cast (includes Woody Harrelson, Dennis Quaid, Luke Evans, etc.). His fascination with this important war event in American history is inspired by his family\u2019s involvement in the war: his grandfather was a WW2 veteran. Taking on this role meant not only getting a glimpse, but also honoring his family\u2019s legacy.<\/p>\n

From the very beginning,\u00a0Kleintank\u00a0sought\u00a0Dickinson\u2019s\u00a0role. During our interview, he disclosed that the real-life\u00a0Dickinson\u00a0wrote a book titled\u00a0The Flying Guns<\/em>, which explains his experiences from Pearl Harbor to the end of Midway. It is evident that\u00a0Kleintank\u00a0holds an enormous amount of respect and admiration for\u00a0Clarence Dickinson, as the actor mentioned that the veteran was the first and only navel officer to receive three navel crosses;\u00a0Kleintank\u00a0also made efforts in visiting\u00a0Dickinson\u2019s\u00a0grave in Hawaii.<\/p>\n
