Join us for an interactive and reflective professional development workshop designed to deepen your understanding of culturally responsive approaches to supporting Latina\/o\/x\/e and immigration-impacted community college students. Through an asset-based, culturally proficient, and trauma-informed lens, participants will examine how culture, intersectionality, immigration-related experiences, and somatic symptoms can influence the ways students experience and express mental health distress. Participants will engage in guided reflection on cultural humility, personal assumptions, and implicit biases while learning practical strategies for recognizing culturally influenced expressions of distress, fostering a sense of belonging, responding with empathy, and connecting students with appropriate campus resources. The workshop highlights the important role all employees play in creating inclusive and supportive campus environments where students feel seen, valued, and connected. This workshop aligns with the California Community Colleges Vision 2030 by promoting equitable, inclusive, and supportive learning environments that contribute to student well-being and success.<\/p>\n
