Send Silence Packing
October 6, 2016 @ 2:00 am - 9:00 am PDT
1,100 college students die by suicide each year. Let’s change the statistic. Suicide is the most preventable cause of death, but we have to talk about it first. Speak up. Silence hurts us all.
Join us in preventing suicide this month!
Send Silence Packing is coming to Palomar College on Thursday, Oct. 6th from 9am to 4pm in the Grass Area near the Student Union Flagpole.
Send Silence Packing is a nationally recognized traveling exhibition of 1,100 donated backpacks, representing the number of college students lost to suicide each year The program is designed to raise awareness about the incidence and impact of suicide, connect students to needed mental health resources, and inspire action for suicide prevention. At each exhibit of Send Silence Packing 1,100 backpacks are displayed in a high-traffic area of campus (like the campus quad), giving a visual representation of the scope of the problem and the number of victims.
