{"id":407,"date":"2013-11-06T07:02:24","date_gmt":"2013-11-06T15:02:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/fashion\/?p=407"},"modified":"2013-11-06T07:02:24","modified_gmt":"2013-11-06T15:02:24","slug":"joe-vecchiarelli","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/fashion\/2013\/11\/06\/joe-vecchiarelli\/","title":{"rendered":"Guest &#8211;  Joe Vecchiarelli"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Joe Vecchiarelli Fashion supplies, Inc.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fashionsuppliesinc.com\/about\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/fashion\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/210\/2013\/09\/JoeVecchiarelligraphic.jpg\" alt=\"A Day in the Life of Joe Vecchiarelli Fashion Supplies, Inc.\" width=\"338\" height=\"83\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Joe Vecchiarelli, the founder and president of <a title=\"Joe Vecchiarelli Fashion supplies, Inc.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fashionsuppliesinc.com\/about\" target=\"_blank\">Fashion Supplies Inc.,<\/a> has worked in the fashion industry for over 40 years.<\/p>\n<p>He remembers going into design rooms with his dad as a child and being enamored as they took garments from nothing and magically created something great. \u201cI always knew,\u201d Mr. Vecchiarelli said, when asked at what exact point he realized the world of fashion was calling his name. \u201cI was diapered in this industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During his college years, Mr. Vecchiarelli worked in the family business, sharpening scissors for the industry\u2019s top designers. He later graduated from USC\u2019s Business program and began to realize that opportunities in the apparel business were unlimited.<\/p>\n<p>To begin transforming the family business into a successful international company, he started building design rooms and getting involved with various college fashion departments throughout the country. He acquired Global Dress Forms, a company that manufactures dress forms in New York. He worked with Dolly Parton and created all her mannequins throughout the country. \u201cWe still work together!\u201d he says, laughing. Mr. Vecchiarelli\u2019s career took another fascinating turn when he made a foray into the entertainment business, working in production with showslike Dancing with the Stars and Th e X Factor. Two years ago, he wasapproached by NBC to help produce the competitive design talent show, Fashion Star. He accepted, with the challenge to create a successful show more professional than even Project Runway.<\/p>\n<p>Presently, Mr. Vecchiarelli is ever busy maintaining his business and helping college fashion students grasp their dreams. Th e biggest perk to the multi-talented industry alum\u2019s job? Watching driven students become successful designers in the industry. Along with this joy, though, he also carries the responsibility. \u201cTh ere is only one of me and millions of people out there that I need to help,\u201d he says. \u201cIt\u2019s really hard to recreate what I do.\u201d What is the secret to success in this fast-paced, heel bites heel industry?<br \/>\nAccording to Mr. Vecchiarelli, it\u2019s \u201ctaking care of the customers, and taking them to different levels that they thought they could not achieve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A word to the students, waiting for the show (and their careers) to finally start\u2014\u201cYou can achieve anything you want to, you just need to reach for it.
