\"Students<\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Psychology is a discipline that uses the scientific method to study animal and human behavior.  This Associate in Arts in Psychology for Transfer degree offers students the opportunity to meet lower division transfer requirements for a major in Psychology, leading to a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Psychology at a California State University (CSU).  Students who earn this degree will receive priority admissions at a CSU. The Associate in Arts in Psychology for Transfer degree is the first step in preparing students for professions and areas of interest related to psychology such as Clinical Psychology, Counseling, Medicine, Law, Management, Business, Social Work, and Teaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pursuant to SB1440, the following Associate Degree for Transfer completion requirements must be met:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(1) Completion of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units that are eligible for transfer to the California State University, including both of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(A) The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) or the California State University General Education \u2013 Breadth Requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(B) A minimum of 18 semester units or 27 quarter units in a major or area of emphasis, as determined by the community college district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(2) Obtainment of a minimum grade point average of 2.0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ADTs also require that students must earn a C or better in all courses required for the major or area of emphasis. A \u201cP\u201d (Pass) grade is also an acceptable grade for courses in the major.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Learning Outcome(s):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. demonstrate fundamental knowledge and comprehension of the major concepts, theoretical perspectives, historical trends, and empirical findings to discuss how psychological principles apply to behavioral problems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. develop basic skills and concepts in interpreting behavior, studying research, and applying research design principles to drawing conclusions about psychological phenomena.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. identify and apply formal regulations that govern professional ethics in psychology and begin to embrace the values that will contribute to positive outcomes in work settings and in building a society responsive to multicultural and global concerns.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. demonstrate competence in writing and in oral and interpersonal communication skills; write a cogent scientific argument, present information using a scientific approach, engage in discussion of psychological concepts, explain the ideas of others, and express their own ideas with clarity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. develop work habits and ethics to succeed in academic settings, including psychology-specific content and skills, effective self-reflection, project-management skills, teamwork skills, and career preparation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\t\n\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t
