Whereas<\/strong>: Administrators have been appointed to their positions through \u201cin-house promotions\u201d over the last several years; and  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whereas<\/strong>: None of those positions were \u201copened to all qualified candidates within the District\u201d before the appointments; and  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whereas<\/strong>: Title V 53021, section b, stipulates that \u201cfor \u2018in-house promotions\u2019 the (administrative) position must be opened to all qualified candidates within the District\u201d except in seven specific situations, none of which apply to the administrators\/positions in question; and  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whereas: <\/strong>Such a practice denies the Faculty its legitimate role in helping choose administrators; and  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whereas: <\/strong>Such a practice denies qualified candidates within the District their right to apply for such positions and gives an unfair advantage to the appointee; and  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whereas<\/strong>: The Faculty Senate in fall 2018 passed a resolution calling on the District to follow Board Policy 7120; and  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whereas: <\/strong>The lack of condemnation of such practices may be read as an endorsement of said practices;  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Be it Resolved that: <\/strong>The Faculty Senate calls upon the administration to acknowledge errors made when appointing administrators in such a manner; and  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Be it Further Resolved that: <\/strong>The Faculty Senate calls upon the administration to commit itself to conducting future administrative hires in compliance with Title V and AP 7120 guidelines. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
