College owned vehicles shall be registered in the name of Palomar College and licensed as exempt vehicles.\u00a0 College related activities or organizations are not authorized to own or register motor vehicles in their names.<\/p>\n
All general-purpose fleet vehicles are controlled by the campus\u2019 Facilities Office (passenger cars, pickups, vans, trucks, etc.).\u00a0 College vehicles shall be used for official College business only.<\/p>\n
All College vehicles are identified by a decal conspicuously attached on the front left\/right side of the vehicle.\u00a0 With exception of vehicle identification numbers, no other decals, stickers, or other signs, including dealer-identified license plate holders may be placed on any College vehicle.\u00a0 Campus Police vehicles may carry additional identification.<\/p>\n
Vehicle acquisition (through Purchasing Services), maintenance, and licensing of all motor vehicles shall be performed by or at the direction of the Director, Facilities and\/or the Facilities Coordinator.\u00a0 A recommendation will be made as to the type of the motor vehicle to be purchased and made available for department use.\u00a0 Departmental needs will be considered as well as the vehicle\u2019s record for reliability, maintenance costs, and fuel economy.<\/p>\n
