{"id":685,"date":"2015-10-28T16:24:51","date_gmt":"2015-10-28T16:24:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/facilities\/?page_id=685"},"modified":"2026-05-12T15:10:22","modified_gmt":"2026-05-12T22:10:22","slug":"transportation-fuel-cards","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/facilities\/transportation-fuel-cards\/","title":{"rendered":"Transportation &#8211; Fleet Cards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"style31\" style=\"text-align: justify\">Palomar College approved drivers are furnished a State of California Voyager Fleet Card with the issuance of the Trip Ticket Packet.\u00a0 The Voyager card uses a PIN number to activate the pump.\u00a0 The PIN number is written on the \u201cUsing Your State of California Voyager Fleet Card.\u201d\u00a0 These fuel credit cards are specific to the assigned vehicle and may be used to purchase fuel anywhere a credit card is accepted.\u00a0 Receipts for all gas purchases must accompany the return of the Trip Ticket Packet at the end of each trip.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Allowable Purchases<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Official State of California Fleet Card (Voyager) is for official college business only and can be used for the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Regular-grade unleaded gasoline and diesel.<\/li>\n<li>Fluids and lubricants (i.e. oil, anti-freeze, washer fluid, etc.).<\/li>\n<li>24-hour emergency roadside assistance through the National Automobile Club (800) 600-6065<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition, emergency purchases, such as wiper blades, fan belts, tires, etc., are allowed in urgent situations only. Emergency purchases must be defined and approved by the Facilities Director.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style34\" style=\"text-align: justify\">It is the drivers responsibility to return the fleet vehicle with a full tank for the next driver.\u00a0 Select the fuel type that is appropriate for the vehicle.\u00a0 If there is any question about which fuel type to use, choose regular unleaded gasoline.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style34\" style=\"text-align: justify\">When refueling a vehicle, please follow these important safety rules:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li class=\"style29\"><span class=\"style33\">Turn off the engine<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"style29\"><span class=\"style33\">Don\u2019t smoke<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"style29\"><span class=\"style33\">Don\u2019t use a cell phone<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"style29\"><span class=\"style33\">Don\u2019t re-enter the vehicle during refueling.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Prohibited Purchases<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The following items are prohibited and must not be purchased using the Fleet Card:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Unless specifically required by the vehicle manufacturer, the purchase of mid-grade or premium unleaded gasoline is strictly prohibited.<\/li>\n<li>Fuel for personal vehicles<\/li>\n<li>Miscellaneous items such as food or sundries (personal items)<\/li>\n<li>Maintenance and repair charges should not be charged to the Fleet Card<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"style34\" style=\"text-align: justify\">These charges will be reported to the department chairperson\/director and Internal Auditor.\u00a0 Drivers responsible for misuse of a gasoline credit card may be subject to disciplinary action and loss of rental privileges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style38\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><span class=\"style35\">Voyager credit cards can also be used for car washes.\u00a0 Receipts for all cash washes must accompany the return of the Trip Ticket Packet at the end of each trip<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style31\" style=\"text-align: justify\">Credit cards must be kept secure at all times.\u00a0 Contact the Facilities Office immediately to report a missing credit card.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Card Issues<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you have problems with the card or the card gets locked, call Fleet Assistance at (800) 987-6591 for 24\/7 assistance. Select option 1 as Driver and follow the prompts.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>How to use the State of California Fleet Card at the Gas Pump<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A few stations may not be equipped to handle your purchase electronically. In that case, take the card inside for the clerk to process the transaction. The Voyager Fleet Card is accepted at all major fuel vendors throughout California.<\/p>\n<p>Find out where the Voyager Fleet Card is accepted by visiting the <a href=\"https:\/\/voyager.usbank.com\/app\/public\/merchantLocator.do\">Voyager Acceptance Locator.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Record the odometer reading before turning off the van<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>At the pump, write down your van\u2019s odometer reading\u00a0<em>before<\/em>\u00a0turning the engine off for an accurate value.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Insert Voyager card into the fuel pump card slot<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Make sure to insert the card with the magnetic strip\u00a0facing the indicated direction. When removing the card, do\u00a0so quickly.<\/p>\n<p>For embedded-chip cards, leave the card in the card reader\u00a0until fueling is complete and you are prompted to remove it.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>Select options<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Press\u00a0credit\u00a0if prompted to choose and select\u00a0Regular\u00a0gasoline (not Premium) to fuel your vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>When prompted for a printed receipt, select\u00a0Yes.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>Enter odometer reading<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>At the prompt, enter the van\u2019s odometer reading from step 1 on the keypad and press Enter. You will then be asked to enter your PIN.\u00a0<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>Fuel the van<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>You can now add fuel to the van.
