Departments must submit a request to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/governance\/infrastructure-and-sustainability-council\/\">Infrastructure and Sustainability Council<\/a> by emailing the Co-Chairs, <a href=\"mailto:nlane@palomar.edu\">Nancy Lane<\/a> and <a href=\"mailto:ehiro@palomar.edu\">Erin Hiro<\/a> to have the request placed on the agenda for first <span class=\"style10\">and<\/span> second readings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style16\">Banners are permitted on campus subject to the following restrictions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"style14\"><span class=\"style12\">Location and installation shall be aesthetically pleasing in its context.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"style14\"><span class=\"style12\">Attachment to interior or exterior of buildings may be made only at previously approved locations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"style14\"><span class=\"style12\">Installation shall be made in a previously approved fashion so that it will not damage the building or building components.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"style14\"><span class=\"style12\">Attachment shall not compromise building safety and\/or security requirements.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"style14\"><span class=\"style12\">Attachment shall not be made to light poles, sign posts, trees, other plant materials, or to structures or art pieces not associated with buildings.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"style14\"><span class=\"style12\">Banners with a commercial message are prohibited.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"style14\"><span class=\"style12\">Banners shall not contain language symbols or graphics that are obscene or discriminatory in nature.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"style14\"><span class=\"style12\">Quality and design of the banner must be first-rate and shall present an image consistent with the college\u2019s prominence in the community.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"style14\"><span class=\"style12\">Size of banner shall be appropriate for the intended location.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"style14\"><span class=\"style12\">Duct tape will not be allowed to hang banners (reference FRC Meeting Minutes 03.10.14)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"style14\"><span class=\"style12\">Banners are to be located and fastened in a manner that will not cause damage to the facilities or cause a safety hazard.\u00a0 Repair to college facilities by prohibited posted items will be the responsibility of the department chairperson, director, or building authority.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"style16\">Non-adherence to this policy will result in the removal and disposal of the materials.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style13\">Once the Facilities Review Committee has approved the banner request, the Department must submit a <a href=\"mailto:FacilitiesRemedy@palomar.edu\">FacilitiesRemedy@palomar.edu<\/a> to the Facilities Department who is responsible for the installation and removal of the banners.<\/p>\n<p class=\"style16\">Each banner may be hung for thirty-days for the event being advertised.\u00a0 Banners may not overlap existing banners and must be for specific events or functions.<\/p>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Departments may request to have banners mounted on various campus buildings for special events.
