Preventive Maintenance is a high priority service in our approach to comprehensive maintenance programs.\u00a0 PM is an effective method of avoiding potential failure of facilities equipment and systems.\u00a0 Through an inventory and scheduling system, work crews are assigned to perform inspections, adjustments, cleaning and routine service on virtually all facility related major equipment<\/span>,<\/span> systems<\/span> and landscaping.<\/span><\/p>\n The goal of preventive maintenance, as a component of a facilities maintenance system, is to maximize the useful life of all building and grounds systems.\u00a0 The requirement for preventive maintenance versus breakdown maintenance was recognized by the Facilities Department many years ago.\u00a0 In 1980, the department took a positive step in setting up a program that would benefit all Facilities staff.\u00a0 Working hours were rescheduled so work could be completed in classrooms without interrupting instruction.\u00a0 Several members of the Facilities crew begin work at 5:00 a.m. on the Monday through Friday shift.<\/p>\n Preventive maintenance is scheduled <\/span>in<\/span> two <\/span>campus ground areas <\/span>a week; this schedule allows the staff to completely check every <\/span>area<\/span> at least twice per year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Campus employees are encouraged to report any deficiencies as they occur.<\/p>\n Requests for emergency services will be received at the Facilities Office during normal working hours (7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday) by calling extension 2629.\u00a0 After these hours and on weekends as well as holidays, please contact Campus Police at extension 2289 or 760\/891-7273.
