{"id":3180,"date":"2017-09-13T08:03:07","date_gmt":"2017-09-13T15:03:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/fa\/?page_id=3180"},"modified":"2025-08-26T12:32:35","modified_gmt":"2025-08-26T19:32:35","slug":"freeze-date-information","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/fa\/freeze-date-information\/","title":{"rendered":"Freeze Date Information"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Each&nbsp;semester will have a \u201cfreeze date\u201d for purposes of determining each student\u2019s enrollment level for financial aid eligibility award amounts. On this \u201cfreeze date\u201d we will record each student\u2019s unit load (number of units enrolled) as of that date, which will determine the student\u2019s eligibility for financial aid awards for the semester. Any classes that are added or dropped after this \u201cfreeze date\u201d will not impact (either increase or decrease) the student\u2019s financial aid unit load for the semester. However, <strong>students who withdraw from all classes <\/strong>or receive a grade of&nbsp; FW, EW, W, or NP, <strong>in all classes<\/strong>, will still be subject to an eligibility calculation that may result in financial aid funds having to be repaid to Palomar College and\/or the Department of Education. Students who never attend class will have a reduction of Pell eligibility.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><strong><u>The \u201cfreeze dates\u201d for 2025-2026 are:<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><strong>Fall 2025 &#8211;\u00a0 Sunday, September 7, 2025<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><strong>Spring 2026 \u2013 Sunday, February 8, 2026<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Summer 2026 &#8211; TBA<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">If you are eligible for a Pell Grant or a Cal Grant, the grant amount you will receive is based on enrolled units and is prorated, depending on the percentage of full-time enrollment you have on the \u201cfreeze date\u201d. &nbsp;Your financial aid eligibility for the term will be based on your unit load, as recorded on the term freeze date.&nbsp; &nbsp; See below for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/fa\/enrollment-status\/\">Pell Grant Enrollment Intensity<\/a> chart and CalGrant Unit Load&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">&nbsp; Pell Grant Enrollment Intensity:<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/fa\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/63\/2024\/04\/Enrollment-Intensity.png\" alt=\"Pell Chart \" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Example of CalGrant Unit Load:&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Below 6 units<\/span><\/td><td><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">&nbsp;Less than half-time or 25% eligibility (as determined by DOE)<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">&nbsp;6- 8.5 units&nbsp;<\/span><\/td><td><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">&nbsp;Half time or 50% eligibility<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">9-11.5 units&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/td><td><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">&nbsp;Three-quarter time or 75% eligibility<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">12+ units&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/td><td><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">&nbsp;Full time or 100% eligibility<\/span><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><strong>If you are enrolling in a short term course beginning later in the term, you MUST add it through MYPALOMAR BY THE FREEZE DATE to have the units included in your financial aid unit load.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>**However, if you enroll ONLY in late-start classes after the freeze date, we may be able to reevaluate your financial aid eligibility. Please check with the Financial Aid Office for more information.<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><strong>\u201cSWAPPED\u201d<\/strong><strong> classes will not be considered if transaction takes place after the freeze date. <\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><strong>Classes added after the freeze date will not be included in your financial aid unit load for financial aid purposes for the term.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Classes dropped after this date will not be deducted from your financial aid unit load for financial aid purposes for the term, unless you drop <strong><u>all<\/u><\/strong> your classes or unless the class is never attended.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Students who completely withdraw from classes or receive grades of FW, EW, W or NP in all classes will still be subject to an eligibility calculation that may result in financial aid funds having to be repaid to Palomar College and\/or the Department of Education. For more information, please read our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/fa\/return-to-title-iv-r2t4-overpayment-policy\/\">Withdrawal and Return to Title IV (R2T4) policy<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">This \u201cfreeze date\u201d is ONLY for financial aid purposes \u2013 it does not affect any other eligibility, such as Veterans\u2019 benefits or EOPS.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Direct Loans and\/or\u00a0CCPG Fee Waiver eligibility is NOT affected by the \u201cfreeze date\u201d.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Credit by Exam, Non Credit, Audited and wait-listed courses do not count as enrolled units for financial aid purposes.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Adds or drops AFTER the \u201cfreeze date\u201d will not change funding for the current semester but may impact satisfactory academic progress status.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The unit load for students who have not been awarded financial aid by the &#8220;freeze date&#8221; will be based on the units enrolled at the time the file is awarded.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Please double check your enrollment status in MyPalomar prior to the \u201cfreeze date\u201d to ensure that you are properly registered in the correct classes.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">If you have questions about how the freeze date impacts your eligibility, please contact the Palomar College Financial Aid Office- 760-744-1150 ext 2366, finaid@palomar.edu, or in the Student Services Center (Monday-Thursday 8:00am-5:00pm, Friday 8:00am-2:00pm)<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Each&nbsp;semester will have a \u201cfreeze date\u201d for purposes of determining each student\u2019s enrollment level for financial aid eligibility award amounts.
