Minimum Qualifications for Teaching in the Credit ESL Program<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n

1.\u00a0 Must meet one of the following qualifications under a) through c):<\/span><\/h4>\n

a. Master’s in TESL, TESOL, applied linguistics with a TESL emphasis, linguistics with a TESL emphasis or education with a TESL emphasis.<\/span><\/h4>\n

OR<\/span><\/h4>\n

b.\u00a0 Bachelor’s in TESL, TESOL, English with a TESL certificate, linguistics with a TESL certificate, applied linguistics with a TESL certificate, or any foreign language with a TESL certificate AND a master’s in linguistics, applied linguistics, English, composition, bilingual\/bicultural studies, reading, speech, or any foreign language.<\/span><\/h4>\n

OR<\/span><\/h4>\n

c.\u00a0 A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of the above.\u00a0 Candidates making application on the basis of equivalency MUST submit the Palomar College Equivalency Qualifications Form that is attached to the application form.\u00a0 If degree has not been awarded by time of application, completion of the Equivalency Qualifications Form is necessary.<\/span><\/h4>\n

2.\u00a0 Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.<\/span><\/h4>\n
