{"id":12,"date":"2016-08-01T11:11:18","date_gmt":"2016-08-01T18:11:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/english\/?page_id=12"},"modified":"2026-01-19T10:41:23","modified_gmt":"2026-01-19T18:41:23","slug":"degrees-programs-offered","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/english\/degrees-programs-offered\/","title":{"rendered":"Degrees &amp; Programs Offered"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>English<\/h2>\n<p>The AA degree focuses on the English language and literatures in English.<br \/>\nProvides the background for students to succeed in diverse fields, such as<br \/>\nadvertising and marketing, teaching, journalism and telecommunications,<br \/>\nlaw, technical writing, and business administration. Prepares students for<br \/>\nupper division course work in English. For specific transfer requirements,<br \/>\nthe student should consult an academic counselor or the catalog for the<br \/>\nschool to which he or she wishes to transfer.\u200b\u200b<\/p>\n<p>Pursuant to SB1440, the following completion requirements must be met:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">(1) Completion of 60 semester units or 90 quarter units that are eligible<br \/>\nfor transfer to the California State University, including both of the<br \/>\nfollowing:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px\">(A) The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum<br \/>\n(IGETC) or the California State University General Education \u2013<br \/>\nBreadth Requirements.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px\">(B) A minimum of 18 semester units or 27 quarter units in a major or<br \/>\narea of emphasis, as determined by the community college district.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">(2) Obtainment of a minimum grade point average of 2.0. ADTs also require<br \/>\nthat students must earn a C or better in all courses required for<br \/>\nthe major or area of emphasis.
