The college holds a morning and evening drill the day of the Great California ShakeOut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Palomar College&#8217;s 2025 Great California ShakeOut Earthquake Drills<\/strong> will take place on <strong>Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 10:16 a.m. and 6:16 p.m. <\/strong>The entire District, including the San Marcos campus, Escondido Education Center, Fallbrook Education Center, and Rancho Bernardo Education Center will participate in the drills this year. During the drill, information and directions will be delivered in a 60-second message broadcast through the Palomar College Emergency Notification System to all phones and other emergency notification channels in the Palomar Community College District. If you can\u2019t lock a door, attempt to quickly block it with heavy items, like a bookcase or chairs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Turn off all lights and close the blinds or curtains.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Instruct all students to stay low and away from the windows and doors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep students quiet and out of sight of the doorway inside the classroom.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Silence televisions, cell phones and other electronics.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If any students remain in the hallways, bring them into the classroom, even if they aren\u2019t one of your students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assist those with special needs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Never open doors or windows unless ordered to do so by the police department.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Everyone should remain indoors and under lockdown until it\u2019s \u201call clear.\u201d An announcement will be made once the lockdown is done.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To watch an example video of how to conduct a lockdown:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/vcQeudtILQk\">Emergency Lockdown Drill<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following a Lockdown Drill, We ask you to fill out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/facilities\/emergency-lock-down-preparedness-drill-discussion-questions-for-faculty-students-and-staff\/\">Lockdown Drill Survey<\/a>&nbsp;in order to identify campus vulnerabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"#top\">Jump to Top of the Page<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jump to Earthquake Jump to Evacuation Jump to Lockdown Earthquake Palomar College participates in the Great California ShakeOut every year in October.
