Below are the various models for offering courses. All classes are taught by Palomar College faculty.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><i><\/i><\/p>\n<h6><b>B<\/b><b>efore and After School<\/b><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Classes are held during zero period or 7th period. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Least conflicts between district policies.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><b>During the School Day<\/b><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Classes are held during periods 1 &#8211; 6. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Palomar professor comes in to teach the class. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Any absences must be reported to both Palomar and the HS due to the requirement supervision in the classroom. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Most successful model for students. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><b>Online Model with Support<\/b><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">HS student has a period during the day dedicated to complete work for the online Palomar course. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Teacher present in the classroom who is able to assist with technical issues and resources (Canvas, online tutoring, etc.). <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Teacher is also available to help with communication between the student and the professor if needed.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><b>Dual Staffing<\/b><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Classes are held during periods 1 &#8211; 6. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Palomar professor comes in to teach the class 2 days a week. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A HS teacher is also in the classroom for the entire week. Teacher is there for additional support for the student, not as an assistant to the professor. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Teacher has no influence on the curriculum for the Palomar course. The<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> teacher can provide supplemental support if desired by the professor.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><b>Reserving Spots in Existing Sections (offered on Palomar\u2019s campus)<br \/>\n<\/b><\/h6>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dual Enrollment Office will ask chair and professor if they are willing to reserve spots for high school students. This can be done if the following is true:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Course is not impacted.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">More than 1 section is offered in that semester.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Less than 50% of the seats are reserved.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Dual Enrollment Program is set-up according to the needs of the high school and its students.
