{"id":457,"date":"2021-06-01T17:01:33","date_gmt":"2021-06-02T00:01:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/deiaa\/?p=457"},"modified":"2026-01-21T11:02:38","modified_gmt":"2026-01-21T19:02:38","slug":"campus-police-department-update-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/deiaa\/campus-police-department-update-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Campus Police Department Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>Complete Initiatives<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>On January 28, 2022, Chief Moore participated in the campus wide Social Justice Convening.<\/li>\n<li>On February 16, 2022, the Campus Police Committee held its first meeting of the semester with members of faculty and staff.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>A vacancy for a police officer position was recently filled by an individual who speaks Spanish fluently and has been with the District for over 12 years.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Facilitated a class with ESL on police community relations<\/li>\n<li>Completed State of California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) 2-hour training on hate crime investigations<\/li>\n<li>On April 27, 2021, participated in a sexual violence prevention forum in partnership with San Diego City Attorney\u2019s office, <em>&#8220;Candid conversations with our law enforcement advocates&#8221;, as<\/em>\u00a0part of our Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) grant work.<\/li>\n<li>Attended Mental Health First Aid awareness 8-hour training facilitated by Mental Health America San Diego\/ Campus Health<\/li>\n<li>Celebration of Black Excellence-BLERD-Black Nerd Culture<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>DEI Goals for FY2021-22<br \/><\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>All officers complete 16 hours of implicit bias, diversity or mental health awareness. State of California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) mandate is 2 hours per 2 years.<\/li>\n<li>Complete POST Principled Policing class &#8211; class currently postponed due to curriculum update<\/li>\n<li>Work with ASG on student-police community forum\/listening session in Fall 2021<\/li>\n<li>Re-engage Community Outreach and Engagement Efforts (i.e. Coffee with a Cop, two per semester at each location)<\/li>\n<li>Increase Palomar College Police Department appearances in classrooms by 10%, exploring the role of police in communities<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate visit with Museum of Tolerance post-pandemic<\/li>\n<li>Attend District Attorney sponsored Deescalation 8-hour training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Complete Initiatives On January 28, 2022, Chief Moore participated in the campus wide Social Justice Convening.
