Apply\/Update Application to Palomar College<\/summary>\n<p>You are <em>not <\/em>required to have taken a class at Palomar College in order to petition for Credit for Prior Learning (CPL). However, you must be &#8220;term activated&#8221; in our system in order to petition for Credit for Prior Learning (CPL). This means your application must be up-to-date. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\">If you completed the CCCApply application within the past year, you are already term activated. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\">If you completed the CCCApply application more than a year ago, but you&#8217;ve taken a class within the last year, you are already term activated. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\">If you completed the CCCApply application more than a year ago, and have <em>not <\/em>taken a class with the last year, your application is expired, and you will need to complete it again. \n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\">To do so, click on the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.opencccapply.net\/gateway\/apply?cccMisCode=061\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MyPalomar Application process<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\">If you are a returning student, begin by selecting&nbsp;<strong>Sign In<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\">If you are a new student to Palomar, begin by selecting&nbsp;<strong>Create an Account<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>3. Need Disability Accommodations?<\/summary>\n<p>Students with disabilities who may need academic accommodations (e.g. test accommodations), interpreting\/captioning, academic and disability management counseling, etc. are encouraged to discuss their authorized accommodations (listed on an official Academic Accommodation Letter provided to the student) from the Disability Resource Center (DRC) with their professors. Students should provide timely notice of the authorized accommodation(s) to the professor to allow sufficient time for the accommodation(s) to be implemented. The faculty member will work with the DRC Office to ensure that proper accommodations are made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students seeking to apply for and request disability-related accommodations are invited to contact the DRC at 760-744-1150, Ext. 2375, stop by the DRC office in the DSPS building, or visit the DRC at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/drc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/drc\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>4. Are you a High School Student?<\/summary>\n<p>High School students must complete our application to Palomar College (step 2 above) <em>and<\/em> complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/enrollmentservices\/forms\/#K12_Special_Admission_Approval\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/enrollmentservices\/forms\/#K12_Special_Admission_Approval\">K-12 Special Admission Approval form<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One you receive confirmation from Admissions that this form has been processed, then you may proceed with the next step in the CPL petition process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Students must be <strong>16 or older<\/strong> to petition for Credit by Exam through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/worldlanguages\/credit-by-exam\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/worldlanguages\/credit-by-exam\/\">World Languages department<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students younger than sixteen (16) may contact the faculty coordinator to request special permission to petition for Credit by Exam. The department strongly encourages students&nbsp;to wait until the age of sixteen (16) to petition, but younger students will be considered on&nbsp;a&nbsp;case-by-case basis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>5. Accept or Decline your grade<\/summary>\n<p>*Credit by Exam or Portfolio Review only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After you complete the exam or submit your portfolio for review, your instructor will post your grade into the petition form, and you will receive an email notification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You must log into the petition form, and either accept or decline your grade by the deadline in the chart below.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\"><em>If you miss this deadline, and don\u2019t accept your grade, you won\u2019t receive the credit. You will need to go through the petition and exam or portfolio review process again in a later semester.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NOTE: <\/strong>Some departments limit the number of attempts a student can take an exam and &#8220;decline&#8221; their grade. Please reach out to the discipline faculty beforehand, to fully understand their policy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you decline your grade from a CPL exam or portfolio assessment, you may enroll into the course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>9. Final step<\/summary>\n<p>At the end of the semester, you will receive a confirmation email that your CPL petition has been approved, and the credits will be posted to your transcript.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have any questions or concerns, contact the CPL Coordinator at <a href=\"mailto:cpl@palomar.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cpl@palomar.edu<\/a><\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>* Withdrawing your CPL petition<\/summary>\n<p>Contact the CPL Coordinator at <a href=\"mailto:cpl@palomar.edu\">cpl@palomar.edu<\/a> if you want to withdraw your CPL petition. And if you are petitioning for credit by exam or portfolio review, also contact your Professor. The CPL Coordinator will cancel the petition for you. You will <em>not<\/em> receive a W on your transcript, and you are free to petition at a later time, or enroll in the course. <\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>* What if I need this CPL course credit as a prerequisite to another course within the same semester? Requisite Exception Petition Form<\/summary>\n<p>If you need the CPL credits to meet a prerequisite requirement in order to enroll into an advanced class in the same semester, you can fill out the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/evaluationsandrecords\/requisites\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Requisite Exception Petition<\/a>&nbsp;and follow the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/evaluationsandrecords\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/96\/2023\/05\/video3.mp4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tutorial video<\/a>.
