Comet Connect Features
The Early Success Initiative provides an opportunity for Student Services and instructional faculty to partner in order to share important resources with students and connect them with Counseling for additional support if they are struggling in class.
How can faculty participate in the Early Success Initiative?
Using Comet Connect, faculty teaching in the 16-week sessions have 3 different “check-ins” available during the term.
Student Resource Check-In
During weeks 1-3, faculty can select students who they wish to send information about accessing technology equipment resources, technology help, and textbook resources. Students will receive an email from Comet Connect with information regarding available resources.
Academic Check-in
During weeks 4-8, faculty can select students who have not been attending class, are at risk of not completing the course, and/or who need tutoring. Students will receive an email from Comet Connect with available support services and Counseling Services will contact them to schedule a meeting with a counselor.
Student Kudos Check-in
During weeks 9-12, faculty can select students who have demonstrated hard work and effort, positive changes in academic progress, or who may need an extra nudge to keep pushing towards completion in the course. Students will receive an email from Comet Connect giving them kudos.
Check-In Dates for Spring 2022
These check-ins target student needs during key moments in the semester. We will collect data and review faculty feedback on the 16-week courses, adjust, and consider expanding to other sessions (FT1, FT2, and the 4-week sessions).
