Student Success and Equity Council

The following action and discussion took place at the October 23, 2015 meeting of the Student Success and Equity Council:

ACTION/SECOND READING:

  • Dean Shayla Sivert presented the Noncredit SSSP Plan for the 2015-16 fiscal year

INFORMATION/DISCUSSION:

  • Dean Shayla Sivert gave a report to support the One-on-One Appointment Tutoring funding request; there was consensus among the Council to support this request
  • Dean Jack Kahn presented information to support adding the AB540/Dream Act workgroup/committee to SSEC; there was consensus among the Council to accept this request
  • Olga Diaz gave an update on the Instructional Faculty Advising, noting duplicate meetings have been added to accommodate schedules
  • There was consensus among the Council to add December 11, 2015 as an additional SSEC meeting date
  • Workgroups met and reported out via email

The following action and discussion took place at the October 9, 2015 meeting of the Student Success and Equity Council:

ACTION/FIRST READING:

  • Dean Shayla Sivert presented the Noncredit SSSP Plan for 2015-16 as a First Reading

INFORMATION/DISCUSSION:

  • Dean Shayla Sivert, Mireya Gutierrez-Aguero and Fabiola Hernandez presented data to support the Family Institute funding request; there was consensus among the Council to support this request
  • Dean Shayla Sivert reviewed the One-on-One Appointment Tutoring funding request
  • Dean Jack Kahn, Jessica Munoz, Esq., MFS, Carmelino Cruz and Martha Martinez presented information to support adding the AB540/Dream Act workgroup/committee to SSEC
  • Michael Large and Olga Diaz presented the Student Equity Plan and data which is due to the Chancellor’s Office on December 18, 2015
  • Olga Diaz gave an update on the Instructional Faculty Advising initial meetings, noting she has requested feedback from faculty, staff and students to create a clear model

Student Services Planning Council

The following action and discussion took place at the September 9, 2015 meeting of the Student Services Planning Council:

ACTION/SECOND READING:

  • MS (Sebring/Titus):  A motion was made to appoint Lisa Cecere to serve as the Student Services Planning Council representative on the Accreditation Steering Committee.  The motion carried.
  • MS (Cecere/Stockert):  A motion was made to cancel the SSPC meeting on November 25, 2015 and to add meetings on November 4 and 18, 2015.  The motion carried.
  • MS (Sebring/Aguilera):  A motion was made to move the Request to Add a New SSPC Committee (AB540/Dream Act) discussion to the Student Success and Equity Council and present it as a Workgroup under SSEC.  The motion carried.

  • Discussion of the SSPC membership structure and affiliations
  • Presentation of the Career Center Internship Program
  • Committee Reports
  • Report on Student Services positions in the hiring process
