The Economy’s Impact on Immigration Policies

October 9 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm PDT

Please join us in person at the San Marcos Campus in LRC 116

Professor Alexander Gómez, Department Chair of Ethnic Studies will present on how the economy has significantly influenced immigration policies throughout history. This workshop will provide a comprehensive understanding of the dynamic relationship between economic factors and immigration laws. Open to all Palomar Students!

Professor Alexander Gomez has dedicated over 25 years of his academic career to studying the US-Mexico border and, more recently, other borders worldwide. Professor Gomez is the founder and coordinator of the Madres and Familias Deportadas Center, which was established in response to the needs of individuals seeking assistance for families separated by deportation. The organization seeks to counter the media’s predominantly negative portrayal of Mexico’s deportees, highlighting the complex issues and diverse experiences of migrants from all over the world. Professor Gomez teaches a brand-new course titled “The US-Mexico Border” here at Palomar College.
For any accommodations, please contact Celina Mendoza as soon as possible: 760-744-1150, Ext. 3557 or dream@palomar.edu. Palomar College is committed to providing a working and learning environment that is free from discrimination and harassment.
