The DRC Presents Global Advocacy: Disability and Deaf Rights
With speakers Dr. Elizabeth Lockwood (CBM Global Representative, United Nations) and Pamela Molina (Executive Director, The World Federation of the Deaf). Dr. Elizabeth Lockwood, CBM Global Representative at the United Nations and Pamela Molina, Executive Director, the World Federation of the Deaf present about their respective roles in global advocacy for persons with disabilities and deaf people. They discuss their roles in advocacy at the global level including with the United Nations’ system and with other stakeholders, including civil society organizations, including organizations of persons with disabilities and national organizations of deaf people. They will highlight their strategy of working in partnership and allyship from different organizations and as deaf and hearing allies. In addition, they can highlight their work in Latin America, to which both have a strong connection: Pamela being from Chile and previously working with Organization of American States, and Elizabeth living and working in Latin America four times with grassroots communities.
