Domestic Violence, Intimate Partner Abuse and Impact on the Developing Brain and Black Families
February 22 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm PST
Free
Domestic Violence is an epidemic leading to trauma, lasting effects on brain development and impacts black communities. Black woman, men and children are being verbally, emotionally and psychologically abused, and experiencing mental health challenges. Couples are being physically, financially, sexually, and spiritually abusive, and minimizing other forms of abuse. Families are being torn apart and children placed in foster care. Domestic violence and intimate partner abuse leads to broken homes, unhealthy relationships, incarceration and death. The workshop will cover the dynamics of domestic violence, power and control in intimate partner relationships, trauma and impact on the developing brain, and provide resources for working with BIPOC populations who have been impacted by domestic violence.
