{"id":351,"date":"2015-01-28T21:34:04","date_gmt":"2015-01-29T05:34:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/bhcs\/?page_id=351"},"modified":"2025-10-21T12:34:24","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T19:34:24","slug":"protocol-referal","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/bhcs\/protocol-referal\/","title":{"rendered":"Referral Protocol"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Students<\/h2>\n<p>Appointments can be made by calling Behavioral Health Counseling Services: <strong>(760) 891-7531<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Faculty\/Staff<\/h2>\n<p>You may observe or come into regular contact with a student who is struggling with any of the following: anxiety, depression, stress, grief\/loss, drug and alcohol problems, family and relationship issues.<\/p>\n<h2>General guidelines when a referral might be indicated include:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Presenting problem beyond your scope of knowledge<\/li>\n<li>Consideration of safety for the student or others<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of the student on any other basis than your professional role (relative, neighbor, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Belief that contact between yourself and the student will be ineffective (e.g., scheduling\/time challenges, personality differences, student reluctant to talk to you)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please feel free to contact BHCS staff for additional help or information.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2175 size-small_portrait\" src=\"https:\/\/www.palomar.edu\/bhcs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2021\/05\/BHCS_Logo_color-264x85.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"264\" height=\"85\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Students Appointments can be made by calling Behavioral Health Counseling Services: (760) 891-7531.
