Prototypes and 3D Printing

Ever consider generating your own physical instructional materials? Want to take some virtual object and hand it to your students, so they can better understand the subject?

Makerbot ReplicatorThe ATRC has a Makerbot Replicator 3D printer which could be used to prototype some object for faculty use, or to craft handouts of actual things to hand to students in the classroom. Now, 3D printing is not a fast process, nor is it comparable to printing out a document, but interested faculty are welcome to contact the ATRC and set up a time to discuss how 3D printing might be of use to you.

If you are interested in what sorts of objects could be printed, take a look at the Thingiverse site; most models posted there could be printed, though many would take a very long time to complete.
