- Activate your Palomar student email account on your eServices Welcome
page. Please make a habit of checking your email account regularly for
important updates and information about your benefits. The Veterans Service
Office will only send email communications to your Palomar student email
account.
- Veterans Education benefits will not count against you in qualifying for
Federal Financial Aid, so you need to complete the “Free Application for
Federal Student Aid” (FAFSA)
- Apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov
- OR from the Palomar web at www.palomar.edu.
- Click on the “Financial Aid and Scholarships” link

Print or order a copy of your service training transcript. Find directions for the individual branches of
service at
http://www.palomar.edu/veterans/transcripts.htm.
- Once you have completed all of the above, then (AND ONLY THEN), call us at 760-744-1150, ext 2173 to schedule and appointment with a Veterans Advisor.
-
If your scheduled appointment is well before the start of the semester, you
may want to wait until you have met with the Advisor before you register for
classes. If your scheduled appointment is close to, or after the start of the
semester, go ahead and register for classes paying close attention that you
enroll in classes that the catalog clearly shows are a part of your planned
program of study!. Classes that are not a part of your program of study will
not be payable with your G.I Bill benefits.
- When you come for the appointment, please bring the eligibility letter from the VA, your service training transcript and a “Member Copy 4” of your DD214.
