Generally, benefits are awarded to reservists
serving on active duty on or after 9/11/01 for at least 90 days under a
contingency operation. National Guard members are also eligible if their
active duty is 90 consecutive days or more and their service is
authorized under section 502(f), title 32, USC, authorized by the
President or Secretary of Defense for a national emergency and supported
by federal funds. Benefits are determined by DOD.
The Veterans service packet at Palomar college consists of 6 forms
plus a few supplemental printouts. It is
important that you read the "everything"
sheet. As the name implies, it covers everything. This file has been written,
rewritten and updated for over 20 years by our two VA Counselors. If you
NEED to know it - it will be in this file. Don't be the
one who does not get paid,
or worse yet, owes money back to the VA!
Fill out all forms completely and bring them into our office in person.
We cannot accept partial paperwork nor paper work from a spouse. Paperwork
must be turned in in-person along with a copy
of your DD214 member 4 and your
NOBE (Notice of Basic Eligibility) from
your command. The member 4 copy shows the nature of discharge.
