Veterans' Services - Cal Vet Fee Waiver

California College Fee Waiver Program
Under the California Education Code, dependents of veterans whose death or disability was service-connected may be eligible for exemption from many College or University fees. Applications and information are available at the Veterans' Office, located in the Student Services building at the San Marcos campus or from your county Veterans' Services Office.

Please note that in tough economic times, education programs in California are some of the first to get cut or cancelled. With that in mind, check the official Cal Vet web page at http://www.cdva.ca.gov/service/feewaiver.asp
for possible updates of the form and/or restrictions.

  1. Fill out the Cal Vet Fee Waiver form and send it in to the County Veterans Service Office (see address below) with the following attachments:
    a.  Attach a copy of your birth certificate
    b.  Attach your CA 540 tax return.
You should do this once a year, usually after taxes are done on April 15th.
  2. Once you receive your award letter from that office, sign in to Palomar College eServices and:
    a. Click on the link, "Apply for a BOGW"

    b. After the application is complete, click on the link, "Printable BOGW form"
  3. Bring the BOGW form and the award letter to the Financial Aid Office.

  4. Deadlines:
Fall or Spring - last official class day of the semester
Summer - June 30th of the school year (example: Summer 2010 deadline is June 30, 2010 with the letter stating benefits for the year 2009-10)

Note: Cal Vet covers the period starting with Fall, Spring and ending with the Summer session.
