Upward Bound is federally-funded TRIO program through the U.S. Department of Education in Washington, DC.  The program originated nationally in 1964; to assist underrepresented students achieve their postsecondary education goals.  UB is the first and oldest of the TRIO programs. 

OVER 45 YEARS OLD
There are over 48,000 Upward Bound students served each year, from over 700 UB programs nationally in the United States!! The Upward Bound Program at Palomar College is a comprehensive academic college preparation and retention program for motivated high school students who are low-income and/or first generation college attendees.  The program serves 50 students from nine target high school in the North County of San Diego Community.
