TARGET HIGH SCHOOLS
Schools Our Program Serves
From this day forward...
ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS! Now that the 2nd half of the school year has begun, now is the time for Upward Bound Seniors to continue to excel and prepare for graduation. And, now is the time for Upward Bound Juniors to prepare for continued academic success. And, all students (and parents working with students) need to capitalize on the time left in the Spring semester...to improve and grow!
Now that you have the Fall semester complete and you know your subject/topic weaknesses, or your overall student "bad habits" (for example - procrastination), use this knowledge to make some changes. Change your"bad habits" into improved skills! RESOLVE to become better with your academic skills and school work. Set goals to improve your grades, study habits, and test scores. If you're already a stellar student, RESOLVE to broaden your scope and indulge in other areas to add to your "resume". For example, participate in community service or help other students, as a peer mentor or in study groups.
As YOU prepare for college, and/or life after high school, be sure to involve your parents and make plans,
together, with a timeline/calendar, to ensure you have all of your bases covered. Having a plan is key to
success! Planning is action-oriented and once you have a written plan, you can take action steps to achieve your goals with your plan/s.
This is a new year, and a new semester, and you've learned a lot from the past. Use your history to build on the present and improve your future, especially your High School years (which will go by so fast)!
You can always get better, especially with school and your studies.
Plan to do it today! Get active planning now! Make 2013 your best year ever!
