Upward Bound at Palomar College
- Upward Bound is a federally-funded TRIO program through the U.S. Department of Education in Washington, DC.
- The program originated nationally in 1964, to assist underrepresented students achieve their postsecondary education goals.
- There are over 48,000 Upward Bound students served each year, from over 700 UB programs nationally in the United States!!
What is Upward Bound?
Upward Bound is (UB) a comprehensive academic college preparation and retention program. Palomar College UB serves 50 students from San Diego North County high schools

Recruitment Process
RECRUITMENT 2013
To become an Upward Bound participant, interested students will participate in an intense recruitment process which includes:
Completing an application packet due at Palomar College Escondido
Attending Group Interviews
Attending Final Family Interview
Successfully completing a probationary period of 1 year or as determined by the Director.
