Joaquin Gamboa is in his last year at Palo- mar College and has been involved in the TRIO/SSS program for 3 years. He has recently applied to 6 universities which include CSULB, CSUN, CSUF, UCLA, UCSB, and UCI. He also plans to include
a couple private universities to the list as well and will soon be applying to USC
and Chapman. His major is Film and Tele- vision and hopes to one day work in editing and production. He currently works at Target and

can be heard on Palomar College’s radio station as a disc jockey.

When Joaquin is not busy as a student or working, he enjoys running, dancing, and video editing. His advise to other TRIO/ SSS students is to always talk to your professors no  matter what and to make sure to keep in touch with the counselors if anything comes up.

Jessica Bauer is currently a student at Palomar College, majoring in art and as- pires to make it a career. Jessica has ap- plied to three universities for the fall 2010
CSUN, CSULB and CSULA. Currently she is working as a store supervisor at Camp Pendleton. Among her interests are spending time with her family, walking and going to the beach. She expresses that the TRIO/SSS has been a tremendous sup-
port and has encouraged her to motivate

herself towards the pursuit of her goals to transfer to a university. For Jessica the TRIO/SSS workshops and events have been especially helpful. Her advice to new students is that TRIO/SSS can give many opportunities to meet new people and re- ceive support. Jessica believes that this is essential to “keep going and stay on track to achieving your goals.”

                                     TRANSFER UPDATES

Now that many of you have received provisional admissions acceptance letters, you are not in the clear yet. The provisional letter is designed to remind you that everything you included on your application must be completed before being officially admitted to a university. You must complete the remaining winter and/or spring semester under good academic standing. In addition, if you are completing a college level Math, English or Speech course, you must receive a grade of “C” or better. And, check your admissions application status regularly and if necessary, update your personal information immediately by calling the office of admissions at the university, or by visiting the schools website. Keep a close eye on transfer deadlines and Good Luck!

Important Reminder: Most private universities are still accepting applications for the Fall
2010 so please meet with a counselor if you are interested in applying.
