Benito Gonzalez is in his last year at Palomar College and he has been involved with TRiO/SSS for the past 2.5 years.  During this time he has been busy with his academics earning a 3.2 GPA. Benito hopes to transfer to CSUSM or CSULB in Fall 2011, as he pursue his major in accounting.  He decided to pursue accounting, due to the big influence this field has in the business world. You see, Benito’s ultimate career goal is to own and manage a graphic design business.  He will apply his business accounting background to create his own business and pursue his passion in graphic design.  One of his biggest influences is his grandfather. He stated “ My grandfather worked for the Nestle company in Mexico as a box boy. He rose through the ranks and became an accountant...that is really motivating for me”. When Benito is not busy as a student or hanging out in the office with other TRiO/SSS participants, he enjoys hanging out with friends, traveling to Mexico and watching movies. His advice to other TRiO/SSS students is to take classes seriously.  Each class count, so give it your all and if you need help, don’t be shy seek help. Many individuals are in the same situation as you. 
“Knowledge is Power”- Benito Gonzalez

Daniela Garcia has been at Palomar College for a year and she is new to the TRiO/SSS program. When asked what is the best part of TRiO/SSS, Daniela enthusiastically answered “Everything! the resources the program offers (book loans, workshops, trips…) and the interaction with TRiO students and staff”. Daniela’s uses the same enthusiasm toward her big career goals in business, as she has works diligently in her academics earning a 3.7 GPA. Daniela is also active in several organizations on campus. She currently holds the position of secretary in the Phi Theta Kapa Alpha Omega Honor Society and she is part of the Mecha    organization. She will apply all of her academic success and student involvement when she transfers in Fall 2012 to USD. Daniela will continue her passion to become an entrepreneur at USD and eventually she will establish a company that helps struggling businesses rise to economic success
