It is that crazy time of year when diets go out the window, shopping madness takes over and you have unexpected family showing up at your door step. Your life begins to flash before your eyes as the clock strikes midnight and you are launched into 2011. Luckily for you, you are a TRiO student!! You have been doing things right and getting the help that you need. Time and the TRiO staff are on your side, the semester is not over yet! You still have time to turn in -A- quality papers and ace you finals which will allow you to end the year with a bang! Don’t wait until next year to start making empty promises. Start today! For some the New Year means a new start on old habits. For you, the new year means you will continue building on your hard work. You will continue   growing and improving as a person and most importantly as a student.
 Use this winter break to     refresh and reflect. Make the best of the holidays and give

yourself a well deserved time off. Enjoy the company of family and friends. This is the time for a little self-care. Allow your body and mind to   unwind. Treat yourself to   relaxing activities such as going out for a walk or listening to ocean sounds at home. Try something new like rock climbing or attending a play. Let this winter break be all about you. Get yourself to a good place to begin the New Year rejuvenated.

From your good place    begin reflecting on the past year and on the year ahead. Focus on the part of you that is striving to be an excellent student.  Ask yourself what you need and want for the New Year.

What changes need to be made? What worked for you last semester? Regardless of your answer to these questions there is always room for  improvement. 

A good way to continue raising the bar for your achievements is to set goals. Have expectations for yourself and feel your self-esteem strengthen when you accomplish them. Now that you are bubbling with new ideas and insight on how to make the year 2011   spectacular and better than the last, remember that you are a TRiO student! Your mission is to achieve academic excellence and transfer to a four-year university of your choice! Always push forward and don’t be afraid to ask for help.
