Toys for Thailand is a voluntary grassroots team of Palomar College associates and community members who provide tangible goods and services for orphaned, abandoned, and refugee children living in remote villages of Thailand.Toys for Thailand is a project of the International Humanities Center, a 501 (c) 3 organization making donations tax deductible.Through an annual humanitarian trip to Thailand, volunteers deliver the basic necessary tools and resources such as instructional supplies, vocational training equipment, food and toys to the schools and orphanages, which house the children.

I am a Media Specialist for the Academic Technology Resources Center at Palomar College. I have worked for Palomar College for over 30 years. This was the first time I have traveled outside of North America. It was truly an amazing trip to Thailand. The people, food, events and culture were so interesting and exciting. I felt fortunate and honored to travel to Thailand as a representative of Palomar College and San Diego County. It was heart-warming to see the children and to help those in need.

WIth my husband John, I run a multimdeia company called SpectrumVideo.I was born in Thailand and have many friends and all my family there. After the tsunami hit, I was motivated to do something to help the children relieve some of their trauma. I decided to collect toys and deliver them personally to Thailand. Recycling toys is like recycling love. Toys give children hope that their lives will get better. I would like to thank everyone who has helped us over the past two years. For the Thai children who do not have voice, I extend heartfelt appreciation for your toy and monetary donations.

After the 2004 tsunami I knew I had to help in some way.Having been a Peace Corps Volunteer and recently retired from Palomar College after 30 years, it all came together. My first trip three months after the tsunami there was still much destruction visible and searches for bodies. The second trip we were able to contribute more direct help to the most needy. Seeing the joy on the children's faces when they received the toys was a powerful experience for me.It was also rewarding to provide shoes and educational experiences to children who lost everything (homes, parents, friends and extended family). Thank you for supporting these children.

For the past 23 years I have worked as a Professor/Counselor at Palomar College. I have had many wonderful experiences in my life, but the most rewarding has been my involvement with Toys for Thailand. The act of giving to those poor and needy children took me outside myself and pulled me away from my own problems, fears, and self-involvement. During the time I was visiting orphanages in Thailand, I felt totally happy. I would like to continue to return to Thailand each year with as much donation money as I can generate. Thank you for empowering our mission with your financial support.
