articulation

What is Articulation?

Articulation is a process which links a high school and college course in order to help students avoid experiencing a delay in or duplication of learning. It allows high school students to receive college credit and/or advanced placement for articulated classes taken in high school. By encouraging enrollment in both
high school and post-secondary education, articulation provides an incentive for students to continue their education, reduces costs to the student and minimizes
needless duplication of coursework.
How Teachers Request to Articulate Courses
A Tech Prep program requires a formal and program-specific articulation agreement between the high school and Palomar.  The articulation agreement is a commitment for the high school and the community college to jointly develop and implement Tech Prep curricula and instruction.
Any instructor, counselor, administrator, industry representative, or student at the high school or college can initiate dialogue regarding articulation of programs by following these steps:

High School Faculty Request Course For Articulation

  • A “Request for Articulation” form can be downloaded from the Forms pages.
  • The Tech Prep Coordinator can send the “Request for Articulation” form to the interested high school.
  • Requesting high school/faculty returns completed “Request for Articulation” form along with a completed Articulation Packet to the Tech Prep Coordinator. The completed Articulation Packet includes:

  • Upon approval of the articulation, signatures from the Department Chair and the Instructor are required.
