Cosmetology

This program provides the required 1600 hours of cosmetology training in preparation for the California State Board licensing examination and takes 10-15 months to complete.

Here are some important details:

• Students must pay for their training kit. The kit contains textbooks and materials needed to complete the 1600 hour training cosmetology course offered through Poway Academy of Hair Design. The cost of the kit is $2500 (non-refundable).

• Students pay an initial deposit of $500 to hold their slots. This payment is applied toward the total kit cost.

• Remaining payments for the kit are made at 400 hours and 800 hours

• All students MUST purchase the kit. Once training begins, if a student drops, any monies paid for the kit are forfeited.

• Training takes place at Poway Academy of Hair Design, in Poway.

• The day program runs 37.5 hours/week.  Hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Tuesday - Friday, and 8:30 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday.

• Students are accepted to open positions on a first-come, first-served basis. Upcoming enrollment is announced as positions become available.  Please remember that there are a limited number of slots.

• Students who have previously applied for Financial Aid through Poway Academy of Hair Design or who have had an informational visit to the school, are not eligible for this ROP program for a period of one year from the time of application. This applies whether you were approved for or denied Financial Aid. DO NOT CONTACT POWAY ACADEMY FOR INFORMATION ABOUT ROP.
