Upholstering or complete replacement of existing upholstery for various types of furniture. Students will use commercial sewing machines, cushion stuffers, pneumatic tools, and hand tools to complete individual projects.
Material fee of $30 collected at first class meeting

 

Advanced Upholstery (R UP 86) 4.0 Units

Student projects will focus on advanced principles and techniques of upholstery, including
furniture design and restoration. Overview of small business operation and legal/ethical
issues.
Recommended Preparation: Basic Upholstery (R UP 85)

Auto Upholstery (R UP/AT 90) 4.0 Units

Upholstery applications for automobiles, recreational vehicles, watercraft and airplanes. Includes removal of interior components relative to installation of sound systems and other after-market products.

Antique Furniture Restoration (R UP 88) 3.0 Units

Antique furniture repair/restoration techniques encompassing upholstery, frame, substrate, primary and secondary wood construction and finish.  Includes business concepts and practices.

Window Treatments (R UP 95) 1.5 Units

Students will complete sample projects for a variety of window treatments.  Includes industry standards, design and fabric options, measuring and estimating and related business concepts.
